Our annual New Shooter Orientation
was held Sat. May 14th at Desperadoville. We had 10 participants
attending this year. Participants received classroom training on
all aspects of Cowboy Action Shooting. Col. Cord McNalley and
Pickaway Tracker covered topics such as SASS, safety, equipment
requirements, ammunition requirements, basic terminology,
scoring and penalties and shooting a match. Our very own dapper
Col. Caleb Boone covered clothing requirements and Lucky Levi
gave a presentation on holsters, cartridge belts and other
leather accessories.
After the morning classroom training the real fun began. The NSO
participants and Scioto Territory Desperado members proceeded to
the range where the new shooters were given the opportunity to
participate in shooting two stages of Cowboy Action Shooting.
They were then given the opportunity to shoot different types
and makes of cowboy guns generously provided by our members.
All in all, it was a very good day. All the participants said
they enjoyed the presentation and the opportunity to actually
shoot cowboy action stages.
Many, many thanks to everyone that helped with this years NSO
program and for so generously donating their time, guns and
equipment.
Thanks to: Col. McNalley, Stagecoach Hannah, Col. Caleb Boone,
Cookie Sewgood, Candy Maker, Slow Pole Smith, Kit Coleen, Josie
Marcus, Osa Hunter, Lucky Levi and Crispy Bacon for your
generous help.
